Reindeer selfie!

Come and sing with me the stories,
Come and chant with me the legends,
Legends of the times forgotten,
Since we now are here together.

―from the Kalevala (Crawford translation, 1888)

I'm a writer of magical middle grade adventures where history stirs, folklore lingers, and imagination leads the way. I’ve long been fascinated by mythology, fairy tales, and especially the rich, eerie world of Finnish folklore—which I loved so much, I somehow turned it into a master’s degree in history.

My path has wandered through creative writing programs, acquisition editing work at a small press, and lots of folklore-fueled rabbit holes — all of which shaped how I tell stories today. Like the folktales I love, my books embrace both light and dark, weaving tales of hope that aren't afraid to explore the real emotions and challenges young readers face. While middle grade is my current focus, I also write stories for older readers that explore the same sense of curiosity, magic, and forgotten histories. I'm currently seeking traditional publication for my novels.

Originally from Minnesota and now based in Los Angeles, I’m most at home anywhere there's a good story or a stand of trees. When I'm not writing, you might find me hiking in the mountains, catching a local play, joining a trivia night team, or dreaming up my next adventure.
